Job Summary

The Major Giving Specialist
at WUWM is responsible for raising financial support that is substantial in
size and has a permanent impact on the station’s future.
Specificduties include:

 Identify and solicit donors
for significant gifts to WUWM.
Manage a portfolio of
donors, with an annual revenue goal for operations and special initiatives.
Renew and move donorsinto larger giving categories, as appropriate,
through direct contact
(telephone and in person visits)
Work with the General Manager and Membership Manager to develop programs and strategies to identify, cultivate, track and solicit significant gifts.
 Prepare regular reports and analysis to monitor progress of cultivation and contributions.
Plan and manage an annual event to thank members of WUWM’s Edward R. Murrow Society and other events designed to reward contributors. Leverage these activities for sustained and increased donations.
 Coordinate deferred and major giving with University administration to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and University policies.
Participate in station outreach activities.
Perform other development activities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

 A bachelor’s degree

 Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in development.

Preferred Qualifications

 Minimum 3 years of experience in direct, personal major donor solicitation

 Proven track record of achieving revenue targets.

 Must be knowledgeable about successful fund raising practices.

 Must be able to represent WUWM in a professional manner with donors including strong verbal and written communications skills.

 Proven success in high-level annual giving and securing gifts from individuals and foundations.

 Must have strong computer proficiency with databases and be detail orientated.
