Job Summary

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for providing professional and confidential and business support services to Facilities, Planning & Management (FP&M) in Finance & Administrative Affairs (FAA). This position provides a full array of human resources services to a high volume and diverse group assignment of departments within the Division. Service area ranges from recruitment, employment, human resources consultation, and professional development / training for all employee types. This position works closely with FPM supervisors during the recruitment process and serves as an advisor to hiring supervisors on policies and procedures related to University Staff, and Academic Staff, hiring processes.

This position requires the ability to use sound judgment, make independent decisions and use considerable discretion. This position will also promote respect and the practice of civility with all internal and external staff and customers. The work is performed in a busy office environment, where priorities change quickly and interruptions are common.

Minimum Qualifications

A minimum of two years of human resources experience (e.g., recruitment & selection, interviewing, interacting with applicants, payroll, etc.);

Customer service experience as evidenced by specific examples;

Experience using common business productivity software and applications (e.g., MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Internet browsers);

Evidence of strong organizational skills (as demonstrated by examples of experience organizing and prioritizing multiple or complex projects, managing multiple schedules and deadlines, etc.);

Demonstrated experience with office management practices and procedures (e.g., filing and record keeping methods); and

Evidence of strong written communication skills (based on an evaluation of submitted application materials).

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or greater in Human Resources, business management, or related field;

Experience working with HRIS Systems (e.g. Lawson, PeopleSoft, etc.) or with other related enterprise systems; and

Evidence (as illustrated by examples) of an ability to analyze complex employment laws and personnel guidelines for both exempt and non-exempt employees
