The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is a premier public urban university committed to academic excellence. The campus is located in the commercial and industrial hub of Wisconsin in a pleasant residential neighborhood only a few blocks from Lake Michigan. UW-Milwaukee is one of the two “doctoral cluster” campuses in the 26-campus University of Wisconsin System with a student enrollment close to 28,000.

Job Summary

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee seeks faculty to join our Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Duties include teaching, research, academic advising, service to the profession, and collaboration with local school districts and School of Education faculty. This position will provide curricular leadership, intellectual vision, and programmatic engagement for the 1 to 8 teacher certification program.
Members of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction are deeply engaged in seven undergraduate, nine graduate programs, and two doctoral programs. UWM has long been a leader in education in the state of Wisconsin and has the largest network of graduates in the state.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum requirements of this tenure/tenure track position include an earned doctorate in curriculum and instruction or a related discipline, and achievement in or promise of scholarly productivity depending on rank of appointment. Candidates with anticipated Ph.D. completion by August 2018 will also be considered. In addition, experience or expertise in equity and social justice pedagogy are required.

Preferred Qualifications

Special education experience preferred. A disciplinary focus in math, social studies, literacy, science or English language learning is highly desirable as is experience advising and teaching graduate students.
Three or more years of K-12 classroom teaching is desired.
