The Children’s Learning Center at UWM is located on campus and serves children ages 6 weeks through 12 years of age. The Center serves the University community with both flexible and full-time schedules. It is a unique and complex program with more than 300 children.

Job Summary

Program Coordinators are responsible for managing and supporting a group of four toddler classrooms. This includes supervising academic staff Lead Teachers; working with the Lead Teachers to train, manage, evaluate and schedule student staff; assuring that effective staffing is maintained within classrooms; and providing leadership in developing curriculum and assessment.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants for these positions must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or Early Childhood Special Education or NAEYC equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years relevant work experience (including curriculum planning and direct work with children five and under).
  • A minimum of two years of experience supervising adult employees.
Preferred Qualifications

Highly qualified applicants will also have:

  • Completed coursework in leadership or management.
  • A Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience scheduling, training and mentoring staff.
  • Evidence of having previously led an early childhood classroom and provided expertise and resources to teachers.
  • Experience in an administrative role as part of leadership team.
  • Evidence of previously having effectively communicated with families.
