The College of Letters and Science’s Information Technology Office (LSITO) seeks two (2) IT Support Coordinators to join its Technical Support team.

The staff in the LSITO provide academic and research computing support, web and application development, business intelligence, and media services to to support the varied instructional, advising, research, and business functions of campus clients.

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee offers a comprehensive liberal arts, STEM, and professional education at the undergraduate and graduate level to its 26,000 students. The College of Letters and Science is UW-Milwaukee’s largest academic unit, with 25 departments, 46 majors, and many interdisciplinary programs and centers. UWM’s 104-acre campus includes 18 acres preserved as green space and is located just minutes from downtown Milwaukee.

Job Summary

The IT Support Coordinator acts as a primary client liaison for the academic and research computing needs of supported areas, performs tasks related to computing technology support, and coordinates service projects. The incumbent will provide direct support for and assistance with Windows and Apple computers including computer hardware, software, printers, mobile devices, network resources, and other campus technologies. These responsibilities are carried out in a team environment, working effectively with colleagues, leading and participating fully and creatively on cross-functional teams with faculty and staff.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A minimum 1 year of experience working in a desktop support and/or technical helpdesk role.
  • A minimum 1 year of experience with problem-solving techniques for computer systems including hardware, network connectivity, software, and OS troubleshooting.
  • A minimum 1 year of experience with operating system deployments, commonly-used software, configuration management and software distribution tools (e.g. SCCM, JAMF) .
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum 1 year of experience training, mentoring or assigning work to junior staff, especially students and/or interns.
  • A minimum 1 year of experience supporting instructional computer labs, research instrumentation, and/or classroom mediation.
  • A minimum 1 year of experience providing support for Active Directory accounts, groups, and Office 365 services.
  • Experience working with a distributed IT organization and building relationships.
