UW-Milwaukee College of Nursing offers Bachelor of Science (BS), Master of Nursing (MN), Master of Sustainable Peacebuilding (MSP), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in nursing. UW-Milwaukee partners with UW-Parkside to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Students in the consortial nursing program at UW-Parkside are placed in clinical sites in the Racine and Kenosha area and take classes at the Parkside campus.

Job Summary

The primary function of the Advisor is to provide information and guidance to prospective students and advise current nursing students at UW-Parkside.

The person in this position functions with independent thinking, creative planning and decision making, within an environment of minimal supervision. Strong interpersonal skills, good judgment, discretion and initiative are essential because of the significant interaction with students, faculty and staff from two campuses: UW-Parkside and UW-Milwaukee. Demonstrated evidence of the ability to balance multiple demands and the ability to organize and attend to detail-oriented tasks. The incumbent serves as on the UW-Milwaukee College of Nursing Student Affairs staff and other work teams at both campuses. Demonstrated evidence of skills working independently and collaboratively with a team are necessary for this position.

The primary office location will be at UW-Parkside with regular travel to the UW-Milwaukee campus.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree earned by the start of the appointment.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in higher education, student personnel or related field preferred.
Evidence of three or more years of prior work experience in advising or similar capacity in higher education.
Prior experience working with diverse student populations.
