The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), is Doctoral/Research extensive and a premier public urban university committed to academic excellence, located in the commercial and industrial hub of Wisconsin. UW-Milwaukee is one of the two “doctoral cluster” campuses in the 26-campus University of Wisconsin System with a student enrollment close to 28,000.

The Department of Biological Sciences consists of approximately 30 faculty members, 10 academic staff, three classified staff, 70 graduate students, 200 undergraduate majors, and 4000 enrolled undergraduate students. The department is housed in Lapham Hall.

Job Summary

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track ASSISTANT PROFESSOR position in genetics beginning in Fall 2018. We seek an outstanding candidate with a strong record of research in any area of eukaryotic genetics using a plant or animal model organism or other species to address fundamental biological questions. This position requires a Ph.D. degree and postdoctoral experience in genetics or in a related area with expertise in genetics. The successful candidate is expected to establish a vigorous, extramurally funded research program involving students (undergraduate, M.S., and Ph.D.) and postdoctoral associates. Responsibilities also include teaching a general genetics course and an advanced course in his or her area of expertise.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Genetics or in a related area
• Two (2) or more years of postdoctoral experience in Genetics or in a related area with expertise in genetics

• Demonstrated record of strong research experience
• Demonstrated evidence of securing extramural funding
• Demonstrated evidence of teaching excellence
• Demonstrated evidence of multidisciplinary collaboration
